The Aged Care Capital Assistance Program (ACCAP) is a grant initiative designed to provide infrastructure funding to aged care services. Its primary goal is to maintain or increase access to quality aged care in “thin market” areas, which include regional, rural, and remote locations, as well as for specific vulnerable groups such as First Nations communities, people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and those with complex needs, including dementia.
The program’s objectives are to support providers in upgrading or extending services, delivering new high-quality services, and providing staff accommodation to attract and retain workers. It aims to embed long-term solutions in areas of market failure, mitigate the risk of service closures, and maximise the distribution of funds by encouraging cash co-contributions where possible.
A total funding pool of $966.5 million has been made available for the program until 30 June 2028, with at least $161 million available annually. The current grant opportunity, specifically for Residential-based Aged Care Services and Staff Accommodation, has up to $300 million available over four years (2025-26 to 2028-29).
