Travis Fatchen, the Independent Member for Mount Gambier, was born and raised in Mount Gambier and is proud to call the city home. He and his wife raised their three children in the region, giving him a strong appreciation of the opportunities and challenges facing local families and future generations.

A strong local connection
Having lived in the region his entire life, Travis has a deep understanding of the people who live and work across our community. His strong local connections and lifelong involvement in the region have shaped his commitment to ensuring the region has a strong and independent voice in Parliament.
Before entering politics, Travis built a successful career as a Diesel Mechanic and Service Manager before moving into public service and developed a reputation as a passionate advocate for local people and the issues that matter most to the region. Through his work, community involvement and extensive engagement with residents, he has gained firsthand insight into the challenges facing local families, businesses and community organisations.
Travis is committed to delivering practical outcomes for the region, with a particular focus on improving healthcare services, regional infrastructure, housing, education and economic development. He believes regional communities deserve the same opportunities and access to essential services as those living in metropolitan areas.
As an independent member, Travis is accountable only to the people of the Mount Gambier electorate. He is committed to listening to the community, advocating strongly on its behalf and working constructively with all sides of politics to achieve the best outcomes for the region.
Travis is passionate about supporting local sporting clubs, community groups, volunteers and charities, recognising the important role they play in making the Limestone Coast such a great place to live. He is particularly proud of the resilience, generosity and community spirit that defines the people of our region.
